Call me Wira. If you’ve been around the internet long enough, you might have stumbled upon one of my past blogs, because, let’s be honest, this isn’t my first rodeo. Writing has always been my thing. I have my own style, flipping between Malay and English as effortlessly as I switch between serious analysis and random ramblings.

I’m from Kedah, the land of good food, friendly people, and the occasional thick northern accent. I took a rather scenic route through life when I started with a Biotechnology degree from University of Malaya, dabbled in the pharmaceutical industry, and then took a leap into public service, where politics slowly but surely became my passion.

Along the way, I also had a stint in Big Data Analytics, not as a data scientist (let’s not get carried away), but as a business development guy who understood how data, people, and power shape the world. Put all that together, and well… let’s just say I have a decent eye for predicting what happens next.

That explains why I’m now pursuing a Master’s in Political Science, well because understanding the game isn’t enough; I want to master it.

While politics and data keep my brain busy, my heart (and stomach) belong to food. I love to eat, I love to cook, and I absolutely love talking about food. Whether it’s a perfectly grilled piece of meat, a comforting bowl of noodles, or a home-cooked meal that reminds me of my childhood and I’m here for it. Good food is happiness, and happiness should always be on the menu.

When I’m not in the kitchen or watching my next meal on YouTube, I’m binge-watching TV series, especially legal dramas, conspiracy thrillers, and anything political. But don’t be fooled, I also have a soft spot for reality shows (because sometimes, watching people argue over a wedding cake is just what I need).

I’ve always been drawn to travel not just as an escape, but as a way to understand the world. I love the vibrancy of Pakistan and India, the chaos, the culture, the sheer energy of it all. But if you ask me where my heart truly longs to be, it’s Japan and Turkey, places where history, food, and beauty blend in a way that keeps calling me back. With a camera in hand, I try to capture the moments that matter including the bustling streets, the quiet corners, the untold stories. Photography is my way of freezing time, a way to see the world beyond just passing through.

Now, let’s talk about the thing I should have started doing years ago which is getting healthy. I’ve crossed the 40-year milestone, which means my body now gives me subtle reminders that I’m not in my 20s anymore (hello, random joint pain!). I’ve spent years enjoying good food and a comfortable chair, but now it’s time to balance things out. So here I am, trying to shed weight, gain endurance, and just be a better version of myself : one workout, one run, one meal at a time. It’s not easy, but hey, neither is life.

I won’t pretend I’ve made it big. I’m not there yet for now, not in my career, not in my dreams, not in life’s grand scheme of things. But I’m moving forward, learning, growing, and most importantly, I can put food on the table, and that’s something to be grateful for. Life isn’t a race, and I’m taking my time carving my own path.

Oh, and before I forget, I have three cats. And one wife (equally important, lest I get into trouble).

So, welcome to my little corner of the internet. Stick around folks, things are about to get interesting.

See you around – probably in the comments, the kitchen, or the gym,
