When Mother Nature Says No to BodyPump
This morning, I was all set to go for my BodyPump class, but Mother Nature had other plans. Heavy rain started pouring since early morning, and instead of getting up and getting ready, I fell back asleep, a little too comfortably.
By the time I woke up, it was already 9:30 AM. Rushed to take a shower, grabbed my gym bag, and headed straight to the gym. But, of course, when I arrived, the class was already halfway through. The music was pumping, the participants were in sync, and the energy was already flowing. I couldn’t just crash in at that point the rhythm had been set, and it would’ve been awkward trying to jump in.
So, I had to improvise. BodyPump wasn’t happening, but I still needed a full-body strength workout. Instead of leaving disappointed, I decided to make the best out of it and went straight to the machines.
The Alternative Full-Body Workout
Since I needed a proper strength session, I structured my workout properly:
- Lower Body First:
✅ Leg Curl – Firing up those hamstrings.
✅ Leg Extension – Burning out the quads.
✅ Leg Press – A full-leg finisher. - Upper Body Next:
✅ Lat Pull – Engaging the back muscles.
✅ Shoulder Press – Strengthening the shoulders.
✅ Chest Press – Keeping the upper body engaged.
✅ Seated Row – Adding balance to the back workout. - Core to Finish:
✅ Crunches – Because what’s a workout without some core activation?
I was using TBE 7 weight, but let me tell you it felt like 9! Hahaha. The workout was challenging, but productive, and by the end, I felt completely satisfied.
Lesson Learned: Have a Backup Plan
This experience taught me that having an alternative plan is important. While BodyPump is still my go-to for a full-body workout, at least now I know that I can design my own routine when needed. That being said, I still need structured classes for cardio and HIIT because, let’s be real, I need that push factor that comes with a coach pushing me beyond my comfort zone.
There’s still a long way to go in my fitness journey, but today was a reminder that progress is about consistency and adaptability. No excuses, no backing out, just keep moving forward! 💪🚀
