Finding the Best Mosque for Iftar: Back to Masjid Cyberjaya

After hopping between two mosque’s, Masjid Al Sultan Abdullah and Masjid Besi in Putrajaya, tonight, I am finally back at Masjid Cyberjaya. And honestly? By far, this is the best mosque for iftar. There’s something about this place that makes it feel like home.

I was looking forward to breaking fast here again. It wasn’t just about the prayer space, the crowd, or the facilities but it was about the food, the vibe, the comfort.

The first thing that makes Masjid Cyberjaya stand out? The food.

Compared to Masjid Besi and Masjid Al Sultan Abdullah, Iftar here is generous. Sometimes, random people donate extra meals, and suddenly, you’re holding an extra box of food. Other times, fellow jemaah bring extra kuih, and we just exchange food like childhood friends in school.

And the menu? Two types of lauk. Yes, you read that right. Not just one protein and one vege like in Masjid Besi. Here, you get two lauk, a vege and plus side dishes. For someone like me, who is focusing on protein intake, this is heaven.

Today’s menu? Ayam Kurma with Daging Goreng and Acar Timun. Perfect. Balanced. No disappointments like the sambal udang I got at Masjid Besi. I mean, sambal udang is not even a proper lauk. It’s a side dish! Where’s the protein? Where’s the meat? Hahaha.

The setup is also organized. No need to rush, no need to grab packed food. We just queue up, take our food, and sit down. Everything feels structured, and this year, I can see more volunteers working hard to keep things smooth.

One thing I truly appreciate about Masjid Cyberjaya is the comfort. The prayer space is spacious and cold. I swear, the air-conditioning here is at full blast. The moment I stepped inside, I felt it, the cool air, the calmness, the serenity. Perfect for Terawikh.

It’s also kid-friendly. Children run around outside the prayer hall, laughing and playing. There’s even a mini nursery for toddlers, allowing parents to pray in peace without having to worry about their little ones. It’s little things like this that make a mosque welcoming for families.

And the imam? He’s local. But don’t underestimate him, the recitation is good, clear, and smooth. The best part? It doesn’t feel long. Even with 20 rakaat of Terawikh, it’s fast but not rushed. It’s at the perfect pace, and before I know it, it’s already Witr.

So yes, this will be my mosque for the rest of Ramadhan. I might visit Masjid Besi once in a while, especially on weekends when I feel like having a proper table setup for iftar. At Masjid Cyber, everyone eats picnic-style, we sit on the floor. Not that I mind, but sometimes, it’s nice to have a table too.

There’s one more mosque in Cyberjaya that I haven’t been to yet which is Cyber 10 Mosque. Maybe I should check it out. Maybe this coming Sunday? We’ll see. I love trying different mosques during Ramadhan, just to experience the different vibes, different crowd, different menus.

Can you believe it? We’re already on Day 4 of fasting. And honestly, I’m doing well.

Checked my weight this afternoon, and I’ve already lost a few kilos. If I keep going at this rate, by Raya, I might actually hit my target weight. Still a long way to go, but this progress motivates me even more.

Haven’t gone to the gym yet, though. Maybe tomorrow.

For now, I’m just happy with today’s iftar, today’s prayers, and today’s reflections. Ramadhan is moving fast, and I want to make every day count.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
