A Leisurely (and Delicious) Recovery Day

Since today is my well-deserved leisure and recovery day, and conveniently a weekend, so My All suggested a casual stroll at the mall. And, of course, lunch. For the past three or four days, she had been fasting, so today kind of felt like Hari Raya for her.

We decided to go to a nearby mall. The eternal question: what to eat? Since I’m on a diet regime, I was torn. But hey, malls never run out of options.

After some deliberation, we both realized we’d never tried Yakiniku before. So, why not? Though I must admit, I find it ironic that we go out to eat because we don’t want to cook but only to end up at a restaurant where we have to cook our own food. The paradox of dining out. Hahaha.

I thought, being the middle of the month, the crowd would be manageable. I was wrong. We arrived early, before 12, yet it was already packed. At the Yakiniku restaurant, it was full house. No proper dining table for us hence just individual benches. But, no big deal. We adapted.

The experience? Surprisingly fun. We got to pick our beef, and it came as part of a set. I deliberately chose different cuts from My All so we could swap and taste more variety. And, of course, the ultimate beverage pairing with unsweetened green tea. Free flow. I like.

Then came the cooking. We each had our own little stove, so there was no culinary conflict. I like my meat medium rare. She likes hers… well, overdone. Or should I say, blackened beyond recognition? Hahaha. Watching her turn a beautiful cut of meat into charcoal was an experience in itself.

Once lunch (or was it brunch?) was over, we wandered from one end of the mall to the other, doing the classic weekend time-killing walk. After a few rounds of window shopping, we picked up some fruits and headed home. Just in time too since it started raining heavily and didn’t stop till night.

Saturday? Well spent.

Sunday? Did you forget about BodyPump class? No rest for the committed. I need to sleep early tonight and tomorrow, I am a beast.
