A Fusion of Tradition and Bold Flavors
There’s something deeply comforting about a warm bowl of Chinese Herb Chicken Soup, a rich, aromatic, and packed with nourishment. Traditionally made with Chinese herbs, chicken, and a slow-simmered broth, this dish is a staple in many homes for its health benefits and soul-soothing qualities. But in my kitchen, I like to experiment and elevate flavors, which is why I’ve added my own twist to this classic dish.
For this version, I kept the base true to its roots by using Chinese herbal bunjut, I think that what it called. A mix of medicinal herbs known for their warming and healing properties. But instead of sticking to just the basics, I decided to amp up the heartiness with:
✅ Potatoes – To add a creamy, comforting bite that balances the light herbal broth.
✅ Mushrooms – For an earthy depth of flavor that pairs beautifully with the soup.
✅ Garlic and Onion – Essential for that extra aromatic punch.
✅ Cili Padi – Because a little heat makes everything better! This adds a subtle but satisfying kick.
And for the final touch? Instead of rice or regular noodles, I’m serving it with mee lidi, a unique choice that soaks up all the flavors beautifully while giving it an irresistible texture.
🔥 Packed with nutrients – The combination of herbs, chicken, and fresh ingredients makes this a great immunity booster.
🔥 Perfect balance of flavors – Herbal, savory, slightly spicy, and incredibly comforting.
🔥 A complete meal in one bowl – You get protein, carbs, and veggies all in one dish.
This Chinese Herb Chicken Soup with Mee Lidi is more than just food, it’s a warm embrace in a bowl. Whether you’re looking for something nourishing after a long day or simply craving a flavorful soup with a bit of a kick, this dish hits all the right notes.
Can’t wait for you to try it! Let me know how do you like your herbal chicken soup? Would you dare to add more cili padi? 🌶️🔥I know My All did.
